2011.
Ah, my Halcyon Days…

No, really. Those were my Halcyon days. That’s when I started wearing BECCA Mineral blush in Damselfly ($32), with the BECCA Halcyon Days Collection.
And I still get the same thrill from it whenever I see it on my cheeks, which is really something else when you think about it. I mean, if after four years, you’re still ecstatic by a shimmery golden coral powder blush — one among many other shimmery golden coral blushes on the market — you know it has to be a gem.

Damselfly’s charming luminous finish still looks natural, and it takes it from casual Facebook friend to “in a relationship” status. before the hourglass Ambient lighting Blushes, there was Damselfly, and its appearance was a straight-up revelation.

Its understated sheen makes cheeks glow without glistening, and it’s unmistakeable in pics and in person. I don’t know how Damselfly does what it does, but it normally steals the show whenever I wear it. even in articles about — oh, I dunno — bright coral glosses or matte reds or out-of-this world nude lipsticks (all of which look remarkable with Damselfly, by the way), I get different versions of the same question: “What are you wearing on your cheeks?”
It’s BECCA Damselfly, my friend. BECCA Damselfly.
Other things I’m wearing in this look…
Eyes — Tom Ford cream and Powder Eye color in naked Bronze
Lips — BECCA beach Tint Lip Shimmer Soufflé in Papaya/Topaz
Lashes — Chanel and Estee Lauder
Brows — MAC and Bobbi brown natural Brow Shaper & Hair Touch-Up
Liner — BECCA
Shirt — LOFT
With Memorial Day behind us (the unofficial start of summer), now is a great time to get to know BECCA Damselfly (if you don’t know her already). probably the best time, I’d venture to say, because of what Damselfly can do for bronzed skin.
A warm orangey coral with a hint of red, it looks breathtaking on cheeks with a tan — relaxed, healthy, beachy and very BECCA.
The long-running Unsung Heroes series here on makeup and appeal blog features some of my all-time favorite permanent collection products.
And performance-wise, it’s absolutely on point, with a nine-hour wear time and a smooth, easy-to-blend formula that behaves well on different skin types. My cheeks bounce back and forth between oily and dry, but Damselfly always blankets them with smooth coverage. There’s never any patchiness at all.

With Damselfly, using a light touch is crucial. It’s packed with pigment, so it can be very easy to apply a lot more than you originally intended the first few times you take it for a spin.
If this happens, don’t worry. If you have a foundation brush nearby (perhaps one you used earlier to apply your base, and thus it already has some product on it), lightly dab it on top of Damselfly and along the edges to tone down the color.

You will not have to try hard to look amazing in this blush. The formula is flawless, and the color and finish are very flattering, especially on warm, bronzy summertime tans. Damselfly is the kind of blush you’re liable to love for years.
